Why Uganda

2016, Uganda was named the fourth-best tourism destination in the world by Rough Guides, a leading travel publisher just as the prior years where the East African Nation has been named a top tourism destination by many reputable institutions including Lonely Planet.From the point you land at Entebbe International Airport surrounded by the clear waters of the region’s largest lake,Victoria to the scenic Kampala city’s seven hills, the Source of the Nile in Jinja , Murchison Falls, Mountain Gorillas, the Equator, snow on top of Mountain Rwenzori, Kidepo Valley National Park etc.
Each day of this safari will insight you into jaw dropping forests and savannah woods; exhibiting a diversity of primates, ranging from the chimps to the baboons, the canopy dwelling black and white Columbus monkeys to the rare red tailed monkeys. While the giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, impala, kob, Elephants, Buffaloes, water buck, forest hogs among others are the treasures of the savannah world.

Why PRI-Uganda

The Permaculture Research Institute of Uganda working with several partners hereby introduces a 12 day monthly eco-safari starting this winter season (2017) as an avenue to promote ecologically responsible tourism and promoting permaculture both among the locals and international communities.
Proceeds from these Eco-tours will go towards supporting the activities of the Permaculture Research Institute of Uganda. Travellers / Guests will also have a chance to participate in PRI-Uganda activities and also decide which one the proceeds of their trip(s) should go to, the guest will then be able to receive progress reports as a form of proper accountability and stewardship.

DAY 1: Arrival

On arrival, you will be met by our staff at Entebbe Airport, he / she will help you with your luggage to the car and transfer you to your hotel for an overnight stay. He / she will brief you about Uganda and highlights of your travel itinerary. An Eco-lodge or green hotel is recommended.

DAY 2: Entebbe

  • This is one of the oldest cities in Uganda surrounded by the fresh waters of Lake Victoria and thus the numerous beaches and landing sites. The city is also host to the Presidential State House and several other State installations.
  • Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC)- The Uganda Wildlife Education Center is a fun and exciting place to see and learn about the animals of Uganda and the ecosystems in which they live. (Learn more at https://uwec.ug/about-us-2/about/who-we-are/ )

DAY 3: Kampala

This is the capital city of Uganda with several administrative, business, cultural and political functions and installations.

-Going by the Guest(s) interest and time available, a maximum of three (3) can be visited from the following places in Kampala: Uganda Museum, Bahai Temple, Kasuubi Tombs, Buganda Lubiri ( King’s Palace), Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Namirembe Cathedral, Rubaga Cathedral or Old Kampala / Gaddafi Mosque.

DAY 3 & 4: Mpigi (PRI-Uganda, SINA & Mpanga)

  • Mpanga Eco-Site

Mpanga ecotourism site is located in Mpigi district 37km from the city center of Kampala.The site is a Natural Forest with unique Tree species and other Flora.  ( http://nfa-mpanga.blogspot.ug/ )

DAY 5, 6, 7,8 & 9: Upcountry (Options A or B)

  • Rwenzori National Park ( Rwenzori Mt. Hiking)
  • Community Outreach ( culture, food systems, housing systems , religion)

 

Option B:

  • Community Outreach ( culture, food systems, housing systems , religion)

DAY 10 & 11: Source of the Nile and Bujaagali falls in Jinja
